Some Apple stores that reopened during the coronavirus pandemic will already have to close again as new COVID-19 cases rise in numerous states.
Apple is threatening to remove Hey.com from the App Store if the ambitious new email service doesn’t begin offering an in-app subscription and sharing a cut of its revenue, according to an executive at Basecamp, which makes Hey.
Apple plans to offer interest-free payment plans for customers that purchase AirPods, iPad, Macs, and more by using their Apple Card. The plan will allow them to pay for their purchases over several months with no interest.
Apple said in March that the event would be online-only due to the coronavirus pandemic, but had not said when it would be hosted.
Apple’s own brand locking system, introduced with the 2018 MacBook Pros, is hitting independent repair shops and electronics recyclers hard, a report by Vice Motherboard claims.
The system combines software security locks, various diagnostic requirements, and Apple’s T2 security chips. They mean that Macs stop working if they’re operated on by someone not using Apple’s proprietary repair tools.
Today, Apple and Google shared more information on their automatic exposure notification system, including sample interface designs for potential apps and restrictions on how the system will ultimately be used.
The Apple Watch already has a number of sensors that could effectively detect early signs of COVID-19, and the most important one—a pulse oximeter—may be on the way.
